Welcome to our blog! Here you can read what Miki and Misho are up to. Well, Misho refuses to keep us updated, but Miki does provide frequent updates :-)

St Patty's

This past Thursday was Saint Patrick's and Tony prepared a delicious corned beef for us. We enjoyed it with some green beer and Irish music. I only wish Friday had been a holiday...it was rough getting up in the morning.

MIA

I've been MIA for the last few weeks, so I've got a backlog of posts. Colin and I have very much enjoyed Tony's visit and the dogs have completely adopted him. Bubbles, in particular, is so fond of Tony that I'm afraid he's forgetting us :-)

Here are some pictures from a hike we did a few weeks ago (yes, I'm loving my fish-eye lens!):

All I want for Valentine's...

...is a stack of Parisian macaroons from Bakery Nouveau (http://www.bakerynouveau.com). My Honey is taking me there this Saturday morning...I'm counting the hours :-)

While at it, I'm sure I'll enjoy their amazing double-baked almond croissant, along with some good coffee. The croissants alone are worth the drive to West Seattle (my old stomping grounds!). Is it the weekend yet?

Updates on the bus shelter project

So, our images have been printed, coated and currently are being installed. I still don't have the location of mine, but once they are mounted, I'll most certainly drive by to see them.

King County Metro put together a photo stream of all the selected images. It's fun to see them all together: http://www.flickr.com/photos/58876413@N04/sets/72157625927222718/show/

Also, here's the press release: http://www.kingcounty.gov/transportation/kcdot/NewsCenter/NewsReleases/2011/January/nr013111_PhotoShelters.aspx

Purple Haze

I painted our living room purple. And bought a purple sofa. I figured that Seattle light is depressing enough and that some color is in order to lift the spirits. Speaking of spirits, I'm also currently searching for a suitable bar cart...surprisingly, there aren't that many good options. I think it'd be cool to have a bar cart the way people had in the 50's (or they still have in Europe), with easy access to booze. Anyway, back to color...

Grey is the new brown and it's already way overdone. All the decorators' favorite color is some obscure shade of grey. The paint stores are running out of space for all their paint chips in a gazillion of shades of grey. All "designer" colors. And every single featured room in shelter magazines or design blogs is inevitably grey. So, I had to do something different. Purple may be 80's, but at least it's not 2011.

Once I remove the tape and plastic covers, I'll photograph and post. Maybe I'll have to re-paint. But that's OK, it's better to experiment and fail than to be all too safe and predictable.

What are the chances?

A few months back, I was in a random furniture store and noticed these pillows. They were nothing special, except for the address on them! It is not only in Sofia, but it is the same street as where my grandmother lived (and Dad grew up). Weird!! I had to buy them. I just got rid of the whippet pillows - damaged by the whippets - so these now grace our family room.

Lensbaby!

I'm super excited - I just received 2 lensbabies, a birthday gift from Tatko! I've wanted to try these out for a while and I'm glad to finally have these new fun toys to play around with. The creative possibilities are truly limitless. I just had 5 minutes to try them out, so here are the very initial results.

And I took this before the lensbabies arrived today. The razboinitzi were lounging around under the watchful eye of Napoleon.
